FHA Appraisals If you are a selling a home and want to be able to open yourself up to the large pool of FHA borrowers that are out there their are a few things you should do to prepare yourself for an FHA appraisal. FHA requires the following on homes that they will insure mortgages on.

1. Smoke Detectors on each floor.

2. Handrails on all stairs. See picture example.
